In Memory of Alex Ross: A Legacy of Support for EYMW

Alex Ross was a passionate double bass player for European Youth Music Week who tragically lost his life in a car accident just before Christmas 2018 at the age of 19. Alex was not only an exceptionally talented musician but also a loving, vibrant, and energetic member of our orchestra. His friendly nature, incredible sense of humour and spirited exuberance made him a great friend to many and an irreplaceable part of our family.

Alex and his family were unwavering supporters of EYMW. Playing alongside him was a privilege that many of us cherished deeply. Alex strongly believed in the core mission of EYMW: fostering international friendship through the shared experience of music making. We are confident that his dedication and enthusiasm would have continued to shine for many years to come.

In a touching tribute to Alex's memory, his parents have generously committed to making regular donations to EYMW. This ongoing support not only honours Alex's legacy but also ensures that his spirit continues to inspire young musicians from around the world.
